Senior Product Analyst

Finance products for residential solar – including loans, leases, power purchase agreements, and property-assessed clean energy (PACE) financing – are available in 23 states, and financing for home efficiency improvements is available in all 50 states. Spruce’s national reach and full product suite enable the company to capture more share of business from its channel because clients can access multiple finance products for a wide variety of home improvements on a single platform. Spruce is also able to capture a greater share of wallet from consumers by offering them the financing they want for the energy or efficiency home improvement they need and creating a long-term relationship that enables additional sales of complementary improvements down the road.

THE DEPARTMENT: Finance Product

Finance Product is the key to Spruce’s value proposition, differentiation from competitors, appeal to institutional investors, and revenue generation capability. The Finance Product team is responsible for the development and management of our energy efficiency and solar lending, solar generation, and PACE financing. This includes all aspects of finance product definition, development, improvement, and management for the existing portfolio of the loan, lease, PPA, and PACE products as well as for all finance product innovation and new product introduction.

To deliver winning products, the team collaborates with groups across the organization, including Software Product, Legal, Operations, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Development. Success requires balancing the technical and financial aspects of product development with consumer knowledge, market intelligence, and behavioral insights to create innovative, well-received new products for the residential energy efficiency and solar finance industry.

THE ROLE: Senior Product Analyst

We are looking for a Senior Product Analyst to join the Finance Product team.  The Senior Product Analyst will report to the Vice President of Finance Product & Marketing with a primary focus on our Generation (i.e. solar lease and PPA) products and PACE product.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define vision and strategic positioning for specific product lines that are “owned” by the Product Manager.
  • Lead the rollout of new products and services and enhancement of existing products and services through collaboration with Software Product, Legal, Finance, Operations, Sales, and Marketing.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Account Management to inform consumer-focused product design based on continuous market feedback.
  • Evaluate product applications, define product features and functionality, and obtain business validation for the product.
  • In defining the products, consider issues related to cost, profitability, pricing, risk, return and quantify the effect on Spruce, homeowners, and our partners.
  • Liaise with Legal and Compliance to ensure relevant regulatory requirements are addressed with product enhancements.
  • Develop and manage the implementation of product cash flows in Spruce’s software platform.
  • Ongoing qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the competitive landscape of our business.
  • Support the broader goals of the Finance Product team across all product lines.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Qualified candidates should have three (3) years and above of experience, with experience in or exposure to product management. 

  • Excellent academic and professional record.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision both written and verbally.
  • Expert at translating complex concepts and information into a clear coherent message.
  • Superb attention to detail.
  • Data-driven approach to decision-making – must be highly proficient in Excel (additional data or programming languages including SQL, Python, VBA are a plus).
  • Proven ability to navigate a highly-matrixed organization effectively: quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity.
  • Focused and versatile team player that is comfortable under pressure.
  • Successful in a fast-paced, high-growth environment – energized by constant evolution.

We place a premium on:

  • Product management experience.
  • Prior relevant experience in solar or energy efficiency financing is a major plus.
  • Prior relevant experience in consumer finance or credit is also a plus.

  • An undergraduate degree is required for this role.
