Account Manager

Spruce Finance is committed to helping people reduce their utility bills and improve their homes and environment by offering consumer financing solutions for residential energy efficiency improvements and solar systems. We make our finance products available on a single software platform and sell them through a national network of verified channel partners. Our platform simplifies the sales experience for our channel partners and helps them sustainably grow their businesses. We have raised more than $2B in project finance and currently serve 70,000 homeowners.

Finance products for residential solar – including loans, leases, power purchase agreements, and property-assessed clean energy (PACE) financing – are available in 23 states, and financing for home efficiency improvements is available in all 50 states. Spruce’s national reach and full product suite enable the company to capture more share of business from its channel because clients can access multiple finance products for a wide variety of home improvements on a single platform. Spruce is also able to capture a greater share of wallet from consumers by offering them the financing they want for the energy or efficiency home improvement they need and creating a long-term relationship that enables additional sales of complementary improvements down the road.

THE ROLE: Account Manager

Spruce seeks an Account Management expert, with greater than five years of direct or channel sales and sales support, in complex value sales and in evolving sales roles.  Experience can build on prior sales support roles (i.e., Customer Service, Customer Advocacy, and sales) with a minimum five  years of cumulative years of direct customer support facing roles.

Demonstrated Skills and Personal Attributes:

  • Experience supporting complex value sales (fin-tech sector experience is a bonus)
  • Experience teaching, coaching or training stakeholder groups at various levels to enable adoption of Spruce Product tools and fin-tech services
  • Adaptability and comfort working in a fast-paced and sometimes unstructured environment
  • Capacity to multi task with relentless attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment and individually
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Outstanding analytical and cognitive ability
  • Self-starter, takes the initiative to complete tasks; leads by example
  • A “do whatever it takes” attitude to meet or exceed our client’s expectations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; candid, but considerate of others
  • Naturally curious, likes to know how things work; asks probing questions
  • Enjoys working with cross functional teams; elevates overall team performance through their individual contribution


Technical Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years in account management and/or sales support with demonstrated success in over-achieving to quota (seeking high achievers who thrive in hyper-growth environments)
  • Proven track record for customer advocacy as well as demonstrated organizational and leadership skills
  • The Account Manager will share a common team quota with the sales lead for the defined territory and named accounts.   The Account Manager will be expected to serve as a supporting sales lead for all accounts defined in territory, and will actively partner with, coach, and mentor their internal and external stakeholders to drive successful sales processes and targeted volume growth
  • Knowledge of the residential solar market, incentives and sales process in solar, home energy efficiency and PACE a plus but not mandatory
  • Experience with power purchase agreements, leases, mortgages or other finance products a plus but not mandatory


  • Able to travel regularly within assigned territory or region of named accounts


A bachelor’s (or advanced) degree required
